Nguyen Hue Street set to shine for Lunar New Year
Nguyen Hue Street in Ho Chi Minh City, which will become a “flower street”
during next month’s Tet (lunar New Year), will be divided into six sections and
decorated based on various themes, Saigontourist said January 11.
The holding comany, which has been entrusted with the task of decorating the
street and organizing the Tet Festival by the city this year, said the Uncle Ho
Statue Park area would be themed “Sunshine” and the area from the willow tree
roundabout to Mac Thi Buoi Street would be themed “Spring of love.”
The theme in front of Sunwah Tower will be “Converged dawn,” from Huynh Thuc
Khang Street to Ngo Duc Ke Street it will be “Power of solidarity,” from Ngo Duc
Ke Street to Hai Trieu Street it will be “A corner of the fatherland,” and Hai
Trieu Street to Ton Duc Thang Street it will be “Directing towards Thang Long.”
Images of tigers will be designed in several materials like wood, bronze, and
tree bark and displayed on the street along with other popular images, ancient
stamps, and linen pieces printed with images of five tigers.
With the first day of the Lunar New year this year also being Valentine’s Day,
February 14, Nguyen Hue Street will also have huge hearts, flower shoes, and
spring roses.
The flower street will be made from February 3-11 to serve the public from
February 11-16 or December 28 to January 3 in lunar calendar.
