Luxembourg helps Vietnam develop human resources for tourism
The Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Tran Chien Thang, and
Luxembourg Ambassador Marc Ungeheuer signed a protocol in Hanoi on January 20 to
improve human resources in tourism and hospitality in Vietnam.
This is a co-operative project between the two governments to help improve the
tourism and hospitality procedures in Vietnam to reach international standard.
Ambassador Marc said that tourism will help local people to escape poverty and
develop human resources for the tourism industry to attract more international
visitors.
The project will be implemented in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang,
Vung Tau, Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho in three years. The total capital
for the project is 3.3 million euro, of which 2.95 million euro has been funded
by Luxembourg.
Under the protocol, Luxembourg will help Vietnam to improve the capacity and
quality of training, and expand and upgrade training centres in several
provinces and cities. It will also help to build restaurants and practice
cookies in Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, and Hanoi. Training centres will
be equipped with modern teaching facilities while teachers will have access to
advanced teaching methodologies to improve HR quality to guarantee sustainable
development in the tourism sector.
This is the fourth time Luxembourg has assisted Vietnam in implementing projects
to improve tourism and hospitality HR. Three other projects have been carried
out in Vietnam since 1997 with a combined capital of 10.3 million euro.
