2010 International Windsurfing Race concludes at Mui Ne beach
The 11th International Windsurfing Race - Fun Cup
concluded on January 30 at Mui Ne beach in the south-central province of Binh
Thuan, attracting 45 athletes from 13 countries and territories around the
world.
The three-day event saw fierce competitions between the world’s leading athletes
from France, Britain, Singapore, Russia, Germany and Vietnam.
In the men’s amateur event, Nguyen Quoc Hoa from Vietnam won the first prize,
followed by Truong Ky Tien, also from the host country. In the women’s amateur
event, the first prize went to Syvie Fuerle from France, while Lucy Odillo
Matter from Australia received the second prize.
Cyril Moussilmani from France claimed victory in the men’s professional event,
followed by Jimmy Diaz from the US and Chir Pressler from Austria.
Chairman of the Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA), Jimmy Diaz, said
that with good weather condition at Mui Ne beach and the rapid development of
windsurfing in Vietnam, the PWA plans to organize the world professional
windsurfing tournament in Mui Ne in 2011. This will be the first time Vietnam
will have the opportunity to host the world’s most important windsurfing event,
he added.
