Vietnam sets up travel agents abroad

The country’s tourism sector has recently worked with Vietnam Airlines to establish five travel agents abroad in Vietnam’s key markets in 2010, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
Over the past ten years, Vietnam’s tourism sector had no travel agents in foreign countries, resulting in only 4 million international tourists visiting the country. The figure was much lower than those of other regional nations such as Thailand with 15 million, Malaysia with 22 million, Indonesia with 6.3 million, and China with 126 million.
The fact is that Vietnam had no travel agents in foreign countries was one of the factors leading to so few international friends learning about Vietnam’s tourism potentials.
