Vietnamese tourists in distress in Thailand
A Vietnamese traveler died and nine others were
injured in a road accident on the way from Pattaya to Bangkok on February 20.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok said that the vehicle carried 22 Vietnamese
tourists. One of them died after he was transported back to Vietnam as a result
of brain injury. The man from HCM City, joined the tour with his wife, two
daughters, father-in-law and younger brother.
Six other tourists are now being treated at a Thai hospital.
“Doctors said that the remaining victims are in a stable situation and they can
return home in the next several days,” said Pham Minh Tuan from the Vietnamese
Embassy in Bangkok.
These tourists were in a tour held by Neo Duong Viet company and its Thai
partner – Company 333. When the car was around 30km from Bangkok, the driver
fell asleep and the car hit the roadside.
Tuan said that this is the first serious accident that has happened to
Vietnamese tourists in Thailand. A large number of Vietnamese went to Thailand
these Tet holidays.
