Buffalo fighting festival in Vinh Phuc

Thousands of tourists flocked to the Hai Luu commune, Song Lo district in northern Vinh Phuc province on the 16th and 17th of the first month of the Lunar New Year to witness the country’s most ancient buffalo fighting festival.
The festival dates back to the 2nd century BC. After a long lapse, it was restored in 2002 and has continued to maintain some of its original customs.
This year, the fighting buffalo No.16 defeated 25 other buffaloes from the commune to win the title.
