Vietnam launches Asian talks to lure tourists
Vietnam National Administration of Tourism is
working with the country’s embassies in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia to
bring more regional tourists to Vietnam.
The administration (VNAT) launched conferences in the countries Monday through
Saturday to showcase Vietnamese attractions, traditions and the investment
potentials of the country’s tourism industry.
Stimulus policies such as quick visa issuance or allowing right-side drivers are
also being discussed at the talks.
The program is part of a plan to develop mutual tourism support between
Southeast Asian nations.
More than 100 officials from tour operators, agencies, carriers, commerce and
press agencies are expected to join the conferences.
Vietnam received 3.8 million international tourists in 2009 and planned to
receive 4.2 million this year.
