Vietnam, China’s Sichuan ink tourism deal
Vietnam National Administration of Tourism on
Tuesday signed an agreement with China’s Sichuan province to promote tourism and
plan a new air route.
Under the agreement, Vietnam and Sichuan will promote each other’s tourism
destinations and exchange information regularly.
Vietnam and the province in Southwestern China will also cooperate with each
other to open an air route linking either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City with Chengdu.
Vu The Binh, head of the travel department at VNAT, said China is a major market
for Vietnam’s tourism industry and many Chinese people visiting Vietnam are from
Sichuan.
More than 527,600 Chinese tourists visited Vietnam in 2009, accounting for 17.4
percent of the total arrivals for the year.
