Parade to celebrate Hanoi’s millennial anniversary
On Hanoi’s Liberation Day, October 10, a national
parade will be held at Ba Dinh Square.
Hanoi Chair Nguyen The Thao said that the 10-day script of Hanoi’s 1000th
anniversary has been completed and submitted to the National Steering Board for
Thang Long-Hanoi’s 1000th Anniversary for approval.
There will be three key events: the opening ceremony on the morning of October 1
at Ly Thai To flower garden; the parade on the morning of October 10; and the
art show on the evening of October 10 at My Dinh National Stadium.
To welcome the anniversary, Hanoi, along with nine provinces and cities, will
hold dozens of cultural events from now to October. The capital city has
received offers from 24 foreign embassies and cities in the world to take part
in the anniversary through various activities.
The Dutch Embassy will present Hanoi with 30,000 tulips; the Swiss Embassy will
offer flower-made clocks; the Spanish Embassy will sponsor a dragon festival;
the Danish Embassy will hold a street carnival; France’s Lyon city will sponsor
illumination at some construction sites in Hanoi; Seoul will organize art
performances and build Seoul park in Hanoi in addition to presenting a special
time capsule to preserve 1000 items for Hanoians of the next millennium.
