Vietnamese in Laos celebrate national festivals
A variety of activities have been held by the
Vietnamese Community in Laos to celebrate major national festivals like the 35th
anniversary of Liberation Day and the millennium anniversary of Thang Long-
Hanoi.
On March 28, the Youth Union Committee of the National University of Laos held a
congress for the 2010-2012 term. Participants expressed strong determination to
boost solidarity and friendship by holding cultural exchanges, sports events and
eloquent contests in Laotian and Vietnamese.
The same day, the Xieng Khoang Association of Fellow Countrymen had a meeting
with Vietnamese writers who are currently working in Laos to refresh their
memories with wartime poems and songs.
On March 27, a friendly football match was held between a team from the
Vietnamese Business Association in Laos and a U-40 team from the Vietnamese
Association in Vientiane.
Hoang Dieu, President of the Vietnamese Association in Laos, and writer Huu
Thinh, head of the Vietnamese writers delegation said they hoped for more
exchanges with Vietnamese people in Laos, to learn more about their homeland and
the traditional Vietnam-Laos friendship.
