Large embroidered painting celebrates Hanoi’s millennial anniversary
Senior embroiderers in Ninh Binh have been working
on a large embroidered work entitled “Hon Thieng Dai Viet” (Dai Viet’s Sacred
Spirit) (Dai Viet is a former name for Vietnam).
Funded by the Dong Thanh Fine Art Import-Export Company, the painting will
depict historical events related to King Dinh Tien Hoang, King Le Dai Hanh and
King Ly Thai To. The design was drawn by artists Nguyen Phuc Khoi and Do Nhu
Diem, members of the Vietnam Arts Association.
The painting will be 33 meters long, 3.3 meters wide and will be embroidered by
1000 artisans. The work is expected to be completed on August 30, 2010.
Also in Ninh Binh province, Hoai Anh Service and Trade Company recently started
embroidering another painting entitled “Ancient Capital of Hoa Lu – A Historical
Vestige of Thang Long-Ha Noi” at a cost of 6 billion dong ($330,000).
