Tours nearly full during two national holidays
The local travel market is busy with tours over
the coming holidays on consecutive weekends, three days for the Hung Kings
Temple Festival, and four days for Independence Day (April 30th) and
International Labor Day (May 1st), said travel agents.
In the first days of April, sea and island tours are full. Although tours to Nha
Trang, Phan Thiet, Phu Quoc, Dalat, and Sapa cost 10-20% more, the number of
registrations still increased by nearly 20%.
Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai, public relations director of Ho Chi Minh City-based travel
firm Fiditour said: “Most favored tours to Phu Quoc and Con Dao are fully
booked. The firm expects to serve nearly 15,000 travelers during the two
holidays, a 24% increase.”
Saigontourist reported more than 5,000 tourists have registered for local tours
while Vietravel, Fiditour, and Ben Thanh Tourist said their figures increased by
15-20% compared to the same period last year.
Cao Tri Dung, deputy director of Vitours said that the number of tourists to
Danang is expected to reach 1,500-2,000, a 20-30% increase compared to the
holidays last year and nearly 200-300 Danang people will tour around the
country, a 15-20% increase.
Like other travel agents, the number of tour bookings at Viet Da Travel also
rose by 30% and it now is trying to arrange tours for late arrivals.
For outbound tours, demand also rose by 10-15 % from early this year.
Hanoi-based travel firm Saigontourist has also released nearly 20 tours to
Singapore, China, Thailand, Cambodia, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Australia,
South Africa, Egypt, and the U.S. Ms Tuyet Mai said this year tourists tended to
choose favorable-weather destinations, such as the Republic of Korea, Japan, and
Australia.
Vietravel also launched a four-day tour: “Discovering the land of the Republic
of Korea” costing USD869 per person while Vietran Tour organized a tour to
Shanghai (China) with a 20-25% discount.
