Quang Tri to mark Liberation Day
Celebrations including a camping festival on April 27, a boat race on April
30, and music and dance shows at the Hien Luong-Ben Hai historical relic in
Quang Tri Province will mark Liberation Day, April 30, and May Day.
The Hien Luong Bridge spans the Ben Hai River which separated North Viet Nam and
South Viet Nam between 1954 and 1975.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the provincial authorities will
organise the celebrations.
Saigontourist offers 100 new tours
Saigontourist has unveiled 100 new domestic tours to mark Liberation Day
(April 30) and May Day, and signed up 1,300 customers for them.
Tours to the Hung Kings Temple and Tam Dao, the resistance base at Tan Trao, and
the north eastern region have been the most popular.
To mark the inauguration of the Can Tho Bridge (April 24), the company has
launched new tours to the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta. A four-day trip to Cai Be –
Vinh Long – Can Tho – Bac Lieu – Ca Mau features river cruises to floating
markets like Cai Be, Cai Rang and Ca Mau to take in the lifestyles of local
residents and buy river specialities.
The company also offers a tour to Chau Doc – Rach Gia – Phu Quoc departing on
April 30.
Travel services building goes up in Hue
The Hue Tourism Joint Stock Company and the HCM City-based Ben Thanh Corp
have begun construction of a five-storey building in Hue which will serve as a
centre for providing tourism and high-end commercial services to both foreign
and domestic visitors.
They will invest VND43 billion ($2.25 million) to build the Hue Travel Plaza
which will open early next year.
Cruise ship brings 750 tourists
Saigontourist has welcomed more than 750 foreign tourists who came aboard
cruise ship Amadea at Tien Sa port in Da Nang. The tourists, mostly from
Germany, went on a tour of Da Nang, Hoi An, and HCM City.
In Da Nang, they visited the Marble Mountain, Tien Hieu marble village, Cham
Museum, and Thanh Ha pottery village, Cau (Bridge) Pagoda and in Hoi An, and the
Phuc Kien Pagoda.
In HCM City, they visited the Cu Chi tunnels, fishing villages in My Tho city,
and orchard gardens in Tien Giang Province.
Viva Macau shuts Viet Nam offices
Budget carrier Viva Macau closed its offices in Ha Noi and HCM City last
Saturday following the closure of its Macau office.
TransViet Travel, the general sales agent for Viva Macau in Viet Nam, said the
shutdown has affected agents and people who have booked to fly to the Chinese
region.
Meanwhile, Thai AirAsia's office in HCM City announced the cessation of the
budget airline's daily service from the city to Thailand's popular beach
destination, Phuket, in less than six months since it began. AirAsia and its
subsidiaries operate flights from Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta to HCM City
and Ha Noi.
