Hung Kings remembered in Mexico
The Vietnamese embassy in Mexico has held a solemn
ceremony to commemorate the 18 Hung Kings who founded the country and began a
golden era in Vietnam’s history.
The Vietnamese Ambassador, Pham Van Que, burnt incense to the Hung Kings to
express his gratitude to the nation’s ancestors.
The anniversary of the deaths of the Hung Kings, which falls on the 10th day of
the third lunar month, was officially recognised as a national celebration in
2000 and in 2007 the National Assembly approved a proposal to make it a national
holiday.
On this occasion, the embassy held a talk on the late President Ho Chi Minh to
mark the 120th anniversary of his birth.
