The first private house to display antiques in Quang Ngai
The first private house to display antiques in
Quang Ngai Well-known antique collector Lam Zu Xenh in Chau O Town, Binh Son
District, Quang Ngai Province has spent over VND1 billion buying three ancient
houses together with precious wooden materials collected in the past five years
to restore these houses to display more than 500 valuable antiques, reports
Vietnam+.
With a total area of nearly 500 square meters, these three houses after
restoration will be used to display his antique collections.
Xenh hired professional carpenters who specialize in ancient house restoration
in Quang Nam Province to help him restore these houses in traditional motif of
three compartments and two lean-lots. The construction is expected to finish by
year- end.
The collector’s reputation has been recognized nationwide. His three-floor house
in Chau O Town keeps over 10,000 ancient items of the cultures of Dong Son, Sa
Huynh and Champa among others.
Dr. Nguyen Viet, director of the Center for Southeast Asian Prehistory, is
helping Xenh systematize his huge collection. Xenh also owns an ancient money
warehouse, in which some money pots are undamaged at weights from 32 to 37
kilos.
Xenh has granted hundreds of valuable ancient items to the general museum of
Quang Ngai Province.
