Foreign tourist numbers up

Viet Nam welcomed 440,000 foreign tourists in May, a year-on-year increase of 50.3 per cent, as the total number of arrivals in the first five months went up to 2.2 million.
Most were from the Chinese mainland, Australia, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, France, Malaysia, and the US. Chinese tourists took the lead with an increase of 111 per cent over from year, according to figures released by the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism.
HCM City was a major destination, drawing 1.3 million of the visitors.
