Ancient town to join Earth Hour
After Hanoi, the authorities
of Hoi An ancient town have announced that they will take part in the Earth Hour
program by turning off all bulbs for one hour on the night of March 28.

The Hoi An People’s Committee Office on March 10 said that the town will turn
off all bulbs and unnecessary electricity equipment for one hour, from 8.30-9.30
pm on March 28.
The town encourages travelers to support this program. The city will be
lightened by candles and lanterns during that time.
Hoi An will also implement the “Streets for Pedestrians and No-Engine Vehicles”
program during this time.
To preserve the old beauty of Hoi An and to raise the awareness of local
residents in protecting the environment, the ancient town has banned engine
vehicles from traveling in the town for years.
