Hanoi prepares gifts for millennial anniversary guests

The capital city is working on a plan to choose meaningful gifts for guests who will attend the city’s 1,000th anniversary this October.
Hanoi’s authorities said preparing gifts for guests is an important task. Selected gifts must show cultural, artistic and aesthetic values, and they must have close attachment to the city’s history.
Individuals may receive books, photos, DVDs, statues and other Hanoi memorabilia. Provincial libraries and agencies may recieve important research works and works of art.
A photo book and a music DVD about Hanoi will be completed next week. In April, Hanoi’s Vice-Chair Ngo Thi Thanh Hang ordered 2,000 books entitled “The Sound of Tramcars” to present to guests.
The plan will be presented to Hanoi’s leaders and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung, the chief of the National Steering Board for Hanoi’s 1,000th Anniversary, for consideration and approval.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung has instructed that the grand meeting and parade at the Ba Dinh Square in the morning of Oct. 10 should be arranged within only 100-120 minutes.
The great anniversary will be held from October 1-10 in Hanoi, with 30 unique cultural events and festivals.
