HCM City travel expo to boost regional tourism
The annual International Travel Expo scheduled to take place in HCM City in late September will promote combined tours to Cambodia, Laos and Viet Nam. The event, titled Cambodia, Laos, Viet Nam – Three Countries, One Destination will feature a tourism exhibition and seminars among other activities. The ASEAN Tourism Investment forum, a prize giving ceremony for Tourism Alliance Awards and the ITE HCM City 2010 Golf Tournament will also be held during the expo.
Cruise ships bring more and more tourists
The Saigontourist Trave Service Co. welcomed nearly 3,200 tourists and crew-members of the SuperStar Virgo cruise ship which docked at the HCM City’s Navi Oil Port on June 8.
The tourists, mostly from Australia, Malaysia and Singapore, visited popular and attractive destinations in HCM City including Ben Thanh Market and Cu Chi Tunnels. In the first half of the year, Saigontourist received 37,000 visitors, mostly from the European countries.
Website supports national tourism promotion programme
A new website http://www.impressivevietnam.vn has been launched to implement the national tourism administration’s Viet Nam – Your Destination promotion programme.
It provides domestic and foreign tourists with information on promotional programmes and also introduces relevant names, addresses and products of travel agencies. The website also has information and registration forms for those would like to join the programme.
New air route launched between Da Nang and Da Lat
The People’s Committees of Da Nang City and Lam Dong Province have signed an agreement with Viet Nam Airlines to re-open an air route connecting Da Nang and Da Lat.
Beginning in mid-June, the carrier will operate at least four flights per week from the two cities with ATR72 aircraft. The route has been re-opened to meet residents’ demands as well as promote tourism development in the area.
