Vietnamese dancers urged to promote traditional values
The fifth National Congress in the 2010-2015 term
of the Vietnam Dancers’ Association was held yesterday in the capital city of
Hanoi.
The congress had the participation of Politburo Member and Permanent Member of
the Party’s Secretariat, Truong Tan Sang; Deputy Head of the Central Commission
for Propaganda and Education, Phung Huu Phu; Minister of Culture, Sports and
Tourism, Hoang Tuan Anh; representatives of arts associations and nearly 800
Association members from across the country.
According to the congress, the Association’s operations over the past five years
have developed in accordance with the Vietnamese Party Central Committee’s
policy on building an advanced culture imbued with national identity, as well as
with the campaign ‘Study and Follow President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example’.
The congress also praised the Association’s remarkable achievements in composing
new pieces for dramatic and poetic dance, enhancing dancers’ skills and works of
research and criticism. Vietnamese dance performances are meeting the increasing
demand from the people and have played a role in contemporary social life. The
qualities of professional and popular dance performances have also been
improved.
Delegates outlined goals for the Association’s development in the 2010 – 2015
tenure, focusing on four tasks: creating more dances inspired by
humanitarianism, patriotism and democracy; encouraging research and criticism
and promoting traditional and modern dance; following the ‘Literature and Arts
toward the public’ guideline.
The congress appointed a new executive committee for the association with
People’s Artist Chu Thuy Quynh as the chairwoman.
Addressing the congress, Politburo member Sang hailed the Association’s great
contributions to the revolutionary work of the Vietnamese Party and people, as
well as to national industrialisation and modernisation. He called upon
participants to promote traditional and modern dance and improve skills to
create more high quality works for dance lovers.
He also stressed the association’s important role in enriching people’s
spiritual lives and educating and cultivating the souls of the young Vietnamese
generations.
On behalf of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, he presented the
Association an embroidered picture featuring the four laudatory words:
‘Solidarity – Democracy – Construction – Creativity’.
