Sa Huynh artefacts found in Quang Ngai
Thousands of objects belonging to Sa Huynh culture
that dated back to 2,500-3,000 years have been discovered during excavations
carried out in the Ma Vuong Mound in Pho Thach commune, Duc Pho district, Quang
Ngai province from June 17-July 4.
The Head of the archaeologists’ group, Doan Ngoc Khoi, said that his group also
found porcelain Linga among earthen ports, vases and bowls and other porcelain
and stone artefacts.
This was the second porcelain Linga statue found in the Ma Vuong Mound with the
first discovered in 1978, he added.
The excavation of an ancient Cham tower for the first time in Krong Nang
commune, Krong Pa district of the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, was
conducted in late June this year.
Different from other Cham towers, Bang Keng tower has a semi-submerge brick
design which is 6.4m x 7.8m and has a 1.8m foundation.
