Buddhist events for Hanoi’s anniversary
Vietnam Buddhist Shangha on July 2 announced a
series of events from July 27 to August 2 to celebrate the capital city’s
millennial anniversary.
Venerable Thich Gia Quang, vice chief of the Vietnam Buddhist Shanga’s
Secretariat, listed the major events, including a procession of the votive
tablet of King Ly Thai To, a great ceremony to pray for peace and prosperity and
a great requiem for heroes and martyrs (July 27 to August 2) at the Do Temple in
Bac Ninh province and the Thang Long Royal Citadel in Hanoi.
A lantern festival and “Thang Long Imprint” music and art show will take place
at the Thang Long Royal Citadel at 8pm, August 1 and will be broadcast live on
the Vietnam Television (VTV).
A Hanoi-Vientiane-Paris video conference will take place on July 31 to serve
overseas Vietnamese and to advertise Hanoi’s great anniversary.
Other programs like an exhibition of Buddhist antiques, Buddhist arts and
Buddhist workshops will be held at other places in Hanoi like the Quan Su
pagoda, Bao Son themed park, Friendship Culture Palace, etc.
