12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic to stir Vietnam
12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic will give
performances at the Hanoi Opera House on July 10th and at the Ho Chi Minh City
Theatre on July 11th.
“Innovative, brilliant, humorous” is the message that the cellists wish to send
to the Vietnamese audience.
The ensemble, unique in the world, is considered one of the best in the
international music circle.
More than 100 contemporary composers have created exclusive compositions for the
12 cellists, and their broad repertoire has impressed audiences around the world
over the past 37 years.
Whether playing classical, jazz or avant-garde, the 12 cellists produce a
distinctive mix of musical colors and unparalleled sound quality, while their
musical instruments, all made in Italian workshops in the 17th and 18th
centuries, have contributed to their achievements as well.
They often accompany German Presidents on official travels, and the Japanese
Emperor welcomes them regularly.
Their appearances in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will be one of the highlights of
“Germany in Vietnam 2010”.
