Malaysian culinary week to be held in Hanoi
Typical Malaysian food and drinks will be
introduced during the Malaysian Culinary Week to be organised at Melia Hotel,
Hanoi from August 26 to 31.
Two chefs from Malaysia will bring distinctive offerings from their country such
as Roti Canai fried cake, Satay roast meat, fried rice noodles, Roti Jala
pancake, Nasi Lemak coconut rice and Teh Tarik tea.
Malay food uses fresh ingredients and lots of seasoning and herbs to enhance the
food’s special flavours. Desserts in Malaysia are quite sweet, often based on
coconut milk, and tropical fruits are also served as desserts.
Among many beverages, Teh Tarik is a popular Malaysian tea made by combining two
main ingredients: tea and condensed milk. The tea is brewed using the unique
technique of pouring it back and forth from a container held high to another one
held below. In Malaysia, there are often competitions and performances to show
off this special skill.
Also during the event, Malaysian artists will perform their traditional dances
which include court and folk dances with drums in the background.
