International tourists flock to southern Vietnam
The Bermuda-flagged cruise
ship, the Diamond Princess, dropped anchor at PTSC Phu My Port on March 11,
bringing 2,600 foreign tourists and a 1,100-strong crew from Thailandto the
southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
During their one-day stay, the passengers visited the oil-rich city of Vung Tau
and some places of interest in Ho Chi Minh City before continuing their voyage
to Cambodia.
As scheduled, the Diamond Princess will return to Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on
March 18 to visit other tourist sites in southern Vietnam.
On March 6, the province received around 2,350 international tourists and crew
on board the five-star vessel, Legend of the Seas.
A PTSC Phu My Port official said that two luxury international cruise liners are
scheduled to anchor at Vung Tau city and Ho Chi Minh City on March 14 and 17.
They are the UK-flagged Queen Victoria, with more than 3,000 passengers on
board, and the Azcadia, from Bermuda with a complement of 2,700 tourists.
