Fast Festival 2010 to take place in HCMC

More than 100 vegetarian dishes will be introduced at the Fast Festival 2010, which will be held from August 26th to 29th at the 23-9 Park in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of Vu Lan holiday.
Vu Lan is a Buddhist holiday, held on the 15th of the 7th lunar month every year for families to express their gratitude to their ancestors.
The upcoming festival will include various activities, such as a fasting competition, a night to show gratitude to mothers, cooking with celebrities, and a lantern night, amongst many other things.
With the topics of health and the environment, the event will help visitors learn more about the variety and benefits of vegetarian foods.
In addition, talks about vegetarian foods with specialists in nutrition, health, cuisine and the environment will also be launched.
The event also helps introduce Vietnam as one of the countries in the world to take part in a campaign to protect the environment through a decline in meat consumption.
