Japanese art of flower arrangement showcased in Vietnam
Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement,
will be on show at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Culture House on September 12-13
and at the Vietnam Women’s Museum in Hanoi September 16-19.
The event is organised by the Japanese Cultural Exchange Centre to mark the
1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
Flower arrangements by Professor Sasaki Yasihito, Japan’s top Ikebana artists,
will be on display.
Ikebana artists say that using a plant’s stems, leaves, and flowers to make
special designs shows nature’s beauty and vitality as well as human emotions.
Japanese Ikebana appeared 550 years ago and has virtually become a “religion”
over the centuries.
