Vietnamese, Chinese cultures featured at Mid-Autumn 2010 Festival
‘The Colours of Vietnam and China’ is the theme of
the Mid-Autumn Festival which is being held at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology
in Hanoi from September 17-19.
The event, jointly organised by the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, the Yunnan
Nationalities Museum, and the Yunnan Institute of Chinese Opera, will include
performances and activities for children, offering them a chance to discover the
similarities and differences between the cultures of Vietnam and China.
A lion dance, water puppets, and Vietnamese opera performances will represent
traditional Vietnamese culture while the charm of Chinese culture will be shown
in Chinese opera, and the arts of cutting paper, painting Chinese opera masks,
sewing toy animals, and making lanterns.
Museum visitors will have an opportunity to participate in common folk games
from the two countries such as top spinning, tug of war, blind tag, round
dancing on one foot, robbing treasure, and team races.
On the first day of the festival, 100 gifts will be donated to disadvantaged
children in charity villages and vocational training centres.
