Record embroidery painting arrives in Thang Long royal citadel
Vietnam’s largest embroidery painting named “Wish
of a Thousand Years” was brought to Kinh Thien palace inside the Thang Long
royal citadel on September 28 as a gift for Hanoi on its great anniversary.
Embroiderers started making this painting in 2006 at Hanoi’s Van Mieu (Temple of
Literature). The work was completed after nearly 1,000 days by nearly 3,000
artisans from the XQ Vietnam Embroidery Painting Company.
The painting is 4m long, 3m wide and 167.5kg weigh. If these numbers are
multiplied, the result will be 2010.
The embroidery painting features a brilliant lotus and the letter “S” for
Vietnam in the lotus lake, with a temple, clouds, moon, cranes, and old
villages.
The giant painting began its trip from Da Lat to Hanoi on September 2. The
procession lasted for 24 days, through 14 provinces and cities, to arrive in
Hanoi on September 28.
On behalf of Hanoi people, Hanoi Party Secretary Pham Quang Nghi received the
painting from XQ Vietnam and sent the sincere thank to artisans.
This giant painting will be displayed with XQ Vietnam’s 12 unique embroidery
paintings in the Thang Long Royal Citadel from now until October 10.
