Thailand, Vietnam join hands to boost bilateral tourism
The Tourism Authority of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh
City announced the upcoming launch of the co-joint tourism development program
entitled “One million tourists in 2015” at the press conference at Saigon
Exhibition & Convention Center, also known as part of the ongoing International
Travel Expo 2010.
According to TAT representative, the program, which is set to debut on Oct 3,
will highlight six points, including review and discuss program policies for
both countries at agendas to ensure the target, exchange information between two
countries, exchange the media between two countries, invite each other to Trade
shows and other events, support each other to do roadshows in two countries, and
joint-promotion to foster the relationship between two countries.
The program is co-organized by Tourism Authority of Thailand and Vietnam
National Administration of Tourism.
The TAT spokeperson also figured out that, in the first seven months of 2010,
Thailand has welcomed over 240,000 Vietnamese visitors, about six percent higher
than last year. At same time, about 120,000 Thai tourists already booked trips
to Vietnam, he noted.
The spokeperson also said that the target is shared equally to both countries.
That means they await about 500,000 Vietnamese tourists to Thai and 500,000 Thai
to Vietnam.
When asked about Vietnam’s ranking on the International Arrivals to Thailand
Billboard (Asian category), TAT answered that Vietnam positioned at second
category, together with Singapore, following the first category of Indonesia,
Japan, South Korea and China.
The new program, a part from the 2010 “Amazing Thailand – Always Amazes You”
campaign by TAT, promisingly will help boosting the travelling needs between two
countries also raising more interest to discover the culture and people.
Along with the program, TAT also introduced several travel activities &
promotions in late 2010 and early 2011.
Some are the project “Bangkok Welcome You.Com”, also known as a news portal,
featuring updates of impressive discounts on accommodation and entertainment in
Thailand; two biggest golf tournaments of the year in Thailand as “Thailand Golf
Invitation TAT 50th Anniversary Golf Tournament” and “5 Asian Tigers Golf
Tournament”; Adventure TravelMart; and “Go Green, Go Thailand” campaign for the
eco-tourism market.
In last speech at the press, TAT promised to discuss a suggestion by a reporter
about common visa for Vietnam and Thailand at an agenda in Hanoi, a part of the
1000th anniversary of Thang Long Citadel. The suggestion is expected to open
wide the tourism market to foreigners, who always want to find easy to way to
travel.
