Quang Binh utilizes tourist potential
Quang Binh Province - endowed with beautiful
landscapes - is a land of cultural mixture which maintains long-standing
cultural and historical heritage sites, attracting numerous investments in the
tourism sector.
With a 116.4km long coastline, Quang Binh Province has many lovely beaches.
Rocky mountains encroach the sea and create attractive resorts of Nhat Le, Quang
Phu, Vung Chua - Dao Yen and Da Nhay… This creates favorable conditions to
develop tourism that brings high revenue. Especially, Phong Nha - Ke Bang area
includes hundreds of mysterious grottos such as Phong Nha, Tien Son and Thien
Duong. The 13,000m Phong Nha Grotto is the largest grotto in the world.
Limestone was dissolved by underground rivers and formed Ca Ron, Toi and Vom
caves which are 10-40m high. At cave mouths, there are many spectacular
stalactites. Going deeper into caves, sceneries are more picturesque.
Magnificent grottoes are an advantage for the province to develop adventure
tourism.
The province has a lot of historical and cultural heritage sites such as Hoang
Phuc Pagoda, Quang Binh Quan (Quang Binh Citadel Gate), Dao Duy Tu Rampart, Dong
Hoi Citadel, citadels and ramparts in the Trinh Nguyen War and other famous
places of Cu Nam, Canh Duong, Cha Lo, Cong Troi, Xuan Son, Long Dai and Ho Chi
Minh Road. In addition, Quang Binh is a civilized land with archaeological sites
of Bau Tro and Phu Luu bronze drum at the age of Dong Son civilization. Names of
generals and celebrities of Duong Van An, Nguyen Huu Canh, Nguyen Ham Ninh,
Hoang Ke Viem and Vo Nguyen Giap make the land more distinguished.
Located in biodiversity area in the north Truong Son Mountain, Quang Binh has
abundant and unique fauna and flora which supply valuable gene resources. If
having sound strategies on tourism development, the province can develop
eco-tourism. Going to the west of the Truong Son Mountain is home to ethnic
minorities of Van Kieu, Ma Coong, A Rem and Ruc peoples who still maintain
ancient cultural values with pristine traditions and customs. The villages
promise a cultural treasure to develop tourism.
According to the Quang Binh Province's People's Committee, the number of
tourists visiting the province has remarkably increased. In 2009, the province
welcomed 640,311 tourists among those 311,630 visited the Phong Nha - Ke Bang
National Park. In the first six months of 2010, the figures were 402,830 and
171,742 respectively, 27 percent more than the same months of last year. The
province's 15th Communist Party Congress defined that diversifying service
industries to turn the tourism sector into the province's key economic sector is
the responsibilities in the coming time. Quang Binh Province is striving to
utilize advantages and potential to develop economy. In early September 2010,
Truong Thinh Company - the investor of the Sun Spa Resort - started to exploit
the Sun Spa Resort - Thien Duong Grotto - Tam Co Cave tour. The investment
project is divided into three stages which total VND1.3 trillion. Two stages
which cost VND750 billion have been finished. The Sun Spa Resort - Thien Cung
Grotto - Tam Co Cave tour belongs to cultural - spiritual - historical tourism
combined with ecotourism to discover the province's grandiose grotto system.
With the tour, the company expected that the number of tourists visiting the
province will leap in the next years.
Apart from existing tours, the province has constructed new resorts in the main
tourism sites of Phong Nha - Ke Bang, the city of Dong Hoi, Nhat Le, Bang hot
water spring and Mooc Spring…
