Looking for New Tourism Slogan
It was the first time the Vietnam National
Administration of Tourism had to organize two press conferences to speak about
the contest within less then two months to choose a new logo/slogan for
Vietnamese tourism for 2011-2015. This shows that the government has paid
special attention to creating a new logo/slogan for the tourism sector.
Mr Nguyen Manh Cuong, the deputy director of the Vietnam National Administration
of Tourism cum the director of the contest organization board, said: "The
contest was launched late this August (after the first press conference).
However, we have so far found no good quality logo/slogan. Thus, the second
press conference was to further make public the contest to seek better logos and
slogans."
In 2000-2005, the logo for the Vietnamese tourism was the image of a Vietnamese
girl in an "Ao Dai" traditional dress and a conical hat with the slogan "Welcome
to Vietnam". In 2005-2010, the slogan has changed to "Vietnam - The Hidden
Charm". The two slogans have been used widely in Vietnam tourism advertising
programs. The slogans have gained achievements and made a deep impression on
international tourists. They have contributed to showing Vietnam with beautiful
landscapes, rich cultures and friendly people to international tourists. The
slogan "Vietnam - The Hidden Charm" will come to an end in late 2010. Therefore,
the tourism sector is seeking a new logo/slogan which reflects the new trend of
development in Vietnam in 2011-2015.
The tourism sector has set a target for the contest to create a new logo/slogan.
The new logo/slogan must match the goals under the Vietnam Tourism Development
Strategy for 2011-2015 and reflect Vietnam's tourism strength through beautiful
beaches, rich cultures and interesting eco-tourism to attract international
tourists. According to the tourism development direction until 2030, tourism
will be a key economic sector that will draw foreign currency to Vietnam and
contribute to restructuring the economy and creating many jobs. The tourism
sector will try to grow10-15 percent annually in 2011-2020. In order to fulfill
these targets, the tourism sector will step up establishing and developing a
brand name for the Vietnamese tourism and developing large tourism promotion
programs.
The logo/slogan design contest for the Vietnamese tourism for 2011-2015, which
has been organized by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, is to
choose a new logo/slogan that show national tourism development strategies, the
country's beauty and strength to attract international tourists. Therefore, the
organizing board hopes to choose a wonderful logo/slogan, which will be used for
a long time. The winner from the contest will receive VND50 million. In
addition, the organizing board will awards other prizes. Contestants are
requested to send their products to the Vietnam National Administration of
Tourism, 80 Quan Su Street, Hanoi. Candidates can be domestic and international
companies, organizations and individuals, which are involved in branding,
logo/slogan design, marketing and tourism consultancy. It is expected that the
contest results will be announced at the end of this coming December./.
