VNA announces higher carriage capacity for Tet holiday 2011
The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has
announced its plan for higher carriage capacity for the lunar new year (Tet
holiday) 2011 from January 19th to February 20th, 2011.
Accordingly, the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City route and vice versa will have nearly
7,000 seats a day available each way, increasing by 18% from Tet holiday 2010
and by 57% from the normal schedule. For the peak days, there will be more than
8,500 seats a day and a way, up 88% from regular capacity.
For the Ho Chi Minh City – Danang route, the airlines plans to increase capacity
with an average of 3,200 seats a day way, a 28% rise from the previous year and
a 44% rise from normal capacity. During the peak days, the number of seat will
be increased by 4,000 a day each way, a two-fold increase from regular capacity.
The spokesman of Vietnam Airlines said that based on the market’s demand, the
carrier continues to set plan to increase capacity on flights to and from local
destinations, including Quy Nhon, Hue, Vinh, Hai Phong, and Phu Quoc to provide
more services for expatriates to return home to celebrate the Tet holiday with
their families.
As scheduled, by November 2010, Vietnam Airlines will continue to plan to add
flights for Tet holiday 2011 based on the balance of human resources.
