Vietnam Airlines connects Saigon to Yangon
Vietnam Airlines (VNA) will unveil a new route
from Ho Chi Minh City to Yangon, Myanmar, starting Monday, November 15.
Airbus 320s will fly from the bustling southern hub to Myanmar’s former colonial
capital every Monday, Friday and Sunday along the new route.
The flights will depart from HCMC at 15:45 and from Yangon at 18:35 (local
time). The flight is expected to take two hours and 20 minutes.
From November 15 to December 25 tourists can purchase round-trip tickets for
just VND1,950,000 (US$100), excluding tax and fees.
Some HCMC-based operators have already launched promotional tours of Myanmar.
Saigontourist has introduced a four-day tour beginning December 17 starting at
$419 per person. Tours will include visits to famous pagodas in and around
Yangon and Bago.
Last March, Vietnam Airlines began running four direct flights every week, from
Hanoi to Yangon. It plans to add another weekly flight this winter.
