Government okays organization plan of National Tourism Year

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has agreed, in principle, with organization plan of National Tourism Year in the stage of 2012-2017.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) had proposed the document No. 3446/BVHTTDL-TCDL on organizing National Tourism Year in some provinces, cities in this period, including Thua Thien Hue (2012), Hai Phong (2013), Lam Dong (2014), Thanh Hoa (2015), Kien Giang (2016) and Lao Cai (2017).
The Deputy PM asked the MoCST to ensure the planning and organizing of Tourism Year in conformity with great events in domestic and oversea to promote tourism images of Vietnam's provinces and foster social-economic development. Furthermore, the MoCST has to popularize the organizing plan and support the hosts of Tourism Year to carry out their plans.
Since 2003 up to now, the National Tourism Year has been held annually by provinces namely Quang Ninh, Dien Bien, Nghe An, Quang Nam, Can Tho, Thai Nguyen and Hanoi to promote Vietnam tourism. Therefore, this activity is the biggest yearly event of Vietnam tourism industry, attracting investment in infrastructures, service facilities and boosting local tourism in sustainable way.
