HCMC to receive three-millionth visitor
The Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Culture,
Sports and Tourism (DoCST) and the Vietnam Airlines Corporation are going to
welcome the three-millionth visitor at the Tan Son Nhat Airport in mid-December.
During November, the city’s tourism saw a growth with 250,000 tourists, an
increase of 38% compared to the same period of last year.
So, in 11 months, the city received 2,850,000 foreign visitors, an increase of
22% over last year’s figures, achieving 102% of the target in 2010.
Ho Chi Minh City is expected to welcome around 3.1 million foreign visitors at
the end of this year, with a turnover of VND 40 trillion.
In its tourism plan for 2011, the DoCST will strive to receive 3.5 million
foreign visitors, an increase of 11%, with a total turnover of VND 49 trillion,
an increase of 20%.
