HCMC attracts Chinese tourists
The number of Chinese tourists taking tours to Ho
Chi Minh City (HCMC) by air increased 89% compared to last year’s figure,
bringing them to the top of the list of foreign arrivals in HCMC for the first
time; according to HCMC’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
Earlier, most Chinese tourists visiting HCMC traveled by road from Northern
Provinces, said local travel agencies.
The increase was thought to come from tourism promotion programs by Vietnamese
travel agencies at international tourism fairs in big cities in China this year.
In addition, there are also more flights between HCMC and Chinese cities.
In November, HCMC welcomed 250,000 foreign visitors, an increase of 38% compared
to the same period last year. So far, in 2010, the city has received 2,850,000
foreign visitors, up 22% over last year’s figures, accounting for 102% of this
year’s target.
