Tourism gets VND 96 trillion in yearly turnover
The tourism sector may pocket VND 96 trillion of
total turnover in 2010, up by 37 per cent against last year, according to the
General Department of Tourism.
The agency said that the impressive figure has been supported by the steadily
increased numbers of foreign and domestic visitors.
Chief of the Travel Department, Vu The Binh, estimated that the number of
international visitors to Vietnam could reach 5,050,000 in 2010, a sharp
increase on the expected number of 4.5-4.6 million.
At the same time, the number of domestic tourists also went up and reached 28
million up by 3 million.
“The year-on-year rise in numbers of international tourists is 1.15 million, a
record high, even though the sector had to suffer unfavourable foreign
exchanges,” the Chief of the Travel Department told reporters on December 28th.
Localities that attracted large number of tourists include Ho Chi Minh City,
Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa and Da Nang, he added.
