Representatives from 8 countries to participate in seminar on Don Ca Tai Tu
An international seminar, titled Art of Don Ca Tai
Tu and impromptus will take place in Hanoi from January 9th to 11th with the
participation of 120 delegates from of France, Germany, Cyprus, Malaysia, Japan,
the Republic of Korea, Singapore and Vietnam.
Vietnam Institute of Music, Vietnam Department of Cultural Heritage on January
4th held a press conference to introduce the seminar.
The seminar aims to reach an agreement between Vietnam and the international
community on setting up a national dossier on Don Ca Tai Tu in southern Vietnam
to submit to UNESCO and to introduce first achievements in the researches on Don
Ca Tai Tu in different localities last year.
According to Professor-Doctor Tran Van Khe, four of seven international
delegates are members of the executive board of the World Music Association,
including Professor-Doctor Yamaguti Osamu from the University of Osaka (Japan),
who had an important say in UNESCO’s recognition of Vietnam’s Hue Royal Court
Music as one of the World’s Intangible Cultural Masterpieces.
There exist now 2,019 Don Ca Tai Tu clubs in 21 southern cities and provinces.
In the framework of the seminar, famous artists and artisans will perform Don Ca
Tai Tu at the A Glance at Vietnam cultural village and Binh Quoi Tourist Site.
As planned, the dossier on Don Ca Tai Tu of the South should be submitted to the
Paris Office of UNESCO not later than March 31st.
