Festival of Five Moc Villages
Time: The 9th to the 11th day of the second
lunar month.
Place: Moc Quan Nhan, Moc Chinh Kinh, Moc Cu Loc, Moc Giap Nhat, Moc
Phung Khoang, in Trung Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi.
Objects of worship: Doan Thuong, La Lieu, Hung Lang Cong, and Phung Luong.
Characteristics: A procession of palanquin pass 5 villages, dragon
dancing, and lion dancing.
This big festival is organized for 5 Moc Villages (every 5-year is held in
large-scale). On the main festival day (the 11th day of the second lunar month),
the procession of palanquin starts from Phung Khoang Communal House to Giap Nhat
Communal House. When passing any village, the people of this village welcome,
then join in the procession. The procession of 5 villages follows each other
last over 1km with flags, fans, alter table... There are many games in the
festival such as wrestling, cock fighting, Chinese chess playing, cheo
singing...
