Long Tong festival opens in Tuyen Quang

The Long Tong (Going to the field) festival opened in Chiem Hoa district, the northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang on Feb. 10, the eighth day of the first lunar month.
As a cultural trait of the Tay ethnic group, the annual festival is a chance to show peoples’ respect to nature and ancestors, expressing their wishes for favourable weather conditions, bumper crops and happiness.
The festival also included various traditional folk games such as con throwing, wrestling, walking on stilts and many other cultural and sports activities.
