HCMC welcomes a large number of foreign visitors during Tet
Ho Chi Minh City welcomed more than 325,000
international visitors during the Lunar New Year Festival 2011. This is an
increase of 14% compared to the same period last year according to the City’s
Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
Most of the visitors were overseas Vietnamese from the US, France, and
Australia. Approximately 250,000 of them arrived by air and 75,000 by sea.
In the first two months of this year, more than 400,000 overseas Vietnamese
returned to their homeland to celebrate the Tet Festival; up 12% compared to the
same period last year.
During the Lunar New Year Festival, Vietnamese tourists chose foreign tours in
Singapore, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Cambodia, South Korea, and the US for
their Tet holiday.
