VNA to transport 14 million passengers in 2011
Vietnam Airlines (VNA) has just set its business
targets for the whole year of 2011, according to which it will transport over 14
million passengers, up by 20 per cent; 193 million tons of cargo, up by 16 per
cent and gain VND 45,500 billion of turnover, up by 28 per cent against 2010.
According to its assessments, the world economy is on the way to recover but
contains a number of risks and challenges.
As a result, the carrier on one hand can benefit from the recovery and on the
other hand faces a number of difficulties.
General Director, Pham Ngoc Minh, said that the carrier will continuously invest
much in infrastructure, build up its crews, further improve its services quality
and open more new air routes between Vietnam and other countries.
As the global air market remains fluid, the carrier should carefully observe the
situation and flexibly readjust its strategies, he stated.
Under its master plan 2011-15, Vietnam Airlines strives to become a large
carrier in the region.
