Tight cooperation to develop tourism in beaches and islands
Becoming a key developing strategy of Vietnam
tourism industry, beaches and islands tourism has a chance to develop and boost
its wild and hidden beauties within the country and oversea, specially in the
National Tourism Year 2011 themed "beaches and islands tourism".
Vietnam has more than 3,200km coastline with many beautiful beaches, bays and
thousands of small and large islands, including Ha Long bay, Nha Trang bay, Da
Nang beaches...which have been known as attractive destinations of the world.
At present, there are many beaches having advantages to develop tourism such as
Sam Son (Thanh Hoa), Cua Lo (Nghe An), Nhat Le (Quang Binh), Thuan An, Lang Co
(Hue), Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), Vung Tau (Ba Ria-Vung Tau), Ha Tien - Phu Quoc (Kien
Giang), Phan Thiet - Mui Ne (Binh Thuan).
To attract a large number of tourists visiting beaches and islands, system of
accommodation from 3-star has been also increasingly invested along coastal
localities (more than 1,400 facilities with 45,000 rooms).
Beaches and islands tourism also contributes to the development of other
economic sectors, job creation, defense security, marine environmental
protection.
To be considered one of the most promising drivers of growth for Vietnam's
economy, beaches and islands tourism accounts 70% activities of tourism industry
and plays an important role in coastal economy development in the stage
2011-2020, aiming to develop at least 5 high- quality beach tourist attractions
including Ha Long - Cat Ba, Lang Co - Son Tra - Hoi An, Nha Trang - Cam Ranh,
Phan Thiet - Mui Ne and Phu Quoc resorts.
Having a favorable position as well as the advantages of tourism resources to
develop beach tourist products, but the competitiveness of Vietnam's tourism
industry is still limited.
The brand-building and sustainable development of beaches and islands tourism
potentials need tight cooperation in management and operation of all levels of
administrative authorities, and tourism businesses.
Basing on the popularity and diversity of Vietnam marine tourism resources,
destinations having the international value such as Ha Long, Nha Trang bay
should be exploited and preserved effectively.
Local authorities and visitors should raise their awareness in environmental
preservation as well as natural landscapes conservation.
Heading towards the goal of environmental friendly and sustainable tourism,
tourist products development should be integrated in sustainable growth.
Becoming a safe and attractive destination in the region, Vietnam has a chance
to promote its people and image to attract domestic and int'l tourists.
Fishing exploitation and rare organism conservation as well as eco-forest system
must be managed, preserved and restored strictly to bring about better lives for
local people and help boost tourism industry.
