Hai Phong to build international airport

The Prime Minister has approved the plan to build an international airport in Tien Lang District, Hai Phong City under Decision No 640/QĐ-TTg signed on April 28th.
Located in a junction of communication and transport, according to experts, the construction of an international airport in Hai Phong can function as a substitute for Noi Bai international airport in Hanoi.
Under the plan, the airport will have transportation capacity of 80-100 million passengers and 4-5 million tones of cargo per year by 2050 and is able to receive all kinds of civil aircraft, including Airbus A380.
At this point, the Ministry of Transport is entrusted to draw up the general and detailed plans for the construction of the airport.
Meanwhile, the Government also agreed on the project to quickly upgrade Cat Bi airport in Hai Phong.
Accordingly, Cat Bi airport can receive 2 million passengers per year in 2015 and 4 million passengers in 2025.
Investment for the upgrading of Cat Bi only would mount to VND 1,700 billion.
