Vietnam seeks more world heritage status
Two heritages of Vietnam along with 40 natural and cultural
properties in 40 countries will be considered by UNESCO for the inscription on
the World Heritage List.
Under the announcement made by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and
Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) on May 5, the Citadel of the Ho Dynasty in the
northern province of Thanh Hoa will be a candidate site for UNESCO’s World
Cultural Heritage list.
Meanwhile, Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park in the central province of Quang
Binh, which was recognised as the world natural heritage under geological and
geomorphic criteria will be considered for the second world natural heritage
status under the criteria of biodiversity.
Up to now, UNESCO has recognised 911 world heritages, including 704 cultural
heritages, 180 natural heritages and 27 mixed cultural and natural heritages in
151 member countries.
