An Giang to build an airport
Transport Minister, Ho Nghia Dung, has recently approved the
project to build an airport in the southern Province of An Giang.
Under the project, the construction of the airport will be divided into two
phases with VND 1,481 billion of investment in the first phase, from now to
2020, and VND 1,936 billion in the second one, from 2020 to 2030.
After the first phase, An Giang Airport will be able to receive aircraft ATR72
or equivalents and in the second phase, the runways will be upgraded to be able
to serve large aircraft like Airbus A321.
Under the Transport Ministers decision, the airport will provide domestic
flights linking to the other southern airports of Tan Son Nhat, Can Tho, Phu
Quoc, Con Dao, Rach Gia and Ca Mau.
The airport can serve some 300 passengers per hour at rush hours and transport
300 tons of cargo per year.
