Van Don to build international airport
The Vietnam Aviation Agency has completed the master plan to
build an airport in Van Don, Quang Ninh Province and will submit it to the
Transport Ministry for approval later in July.
According to local sources, the construction of Van Don Airport may cost more
than US$ 1 billion and now interests South Korean investors.
However, the Aviation Agency said that it will consider selecting the investor
for the airport only after the master plan has been approved.
Earlier, in a Government’s conclusion, the Prime Minister agreed in principle on
the construction of the Airport and instructed that the Airport will be designed
to receive international and domestic flights.
The Transport Ministry and Quang Ninh Province are entrusted to draw up the
project and propose appropriate investment and implementation modes.
Officials and experts believed that the airport will help Van Don and the
Province better tap their strengths like trade and tourism.
