Sorry about the delayed answer, I've just arrived to Barcelona. We enjoyed so much the Halong Bay trip! You have to be proud of Hoa (our guide), she made the trip warming, funny and we felt like at home with her. Everything was ok, the pickup bus, boat, visit to the cave, kayaking, etc. If I have to improve something will be the gaps between activities inside the boat, those were so shorts!, maybe is that we're spanish and we take things a bit more calm than rest of europeans but we were in hurry one or two times.
